The U.K. supergroup represented the final technical peak of the 1970s progressive rock movement. Blending jazz-fusion and art rock, virtuosos Allan Holdsworth, Bill Bruford, John Wetton, and Eddie Jobson forged a complex, highly influential sound at a time when commercial punk and disco were shifting the broader musical landscape away from elaborate musicianship.
