Overall, the new edition certainly sounds more focused and natural than the 1973 sessions LP, one that seems to be presented mostly in mono, and I do very much like the sense of studio presence that comes through nicely on this new edition. The bottom line is this: Thelonious Monk With John Coltrane is essential listening.
