Patrick Hosken of MTV News said that, like Aja, Gaucho shows how "great yacht rock is also more musically ambitious than it might seem, tying blue-eyed soul and jazz to funk and  R&B”

'Gaucho' is one of the great Steely Dan album's (released in 1980) by Steely Dan, and has remained along with 'Aja' as the most popular ever since. Challenging production issues, overrun on studio time, budget blowouts.....and once again a great raft of top musicians (forty two) play with commensurate ability and style. So many amazing songs and everyone has their own favorite's.

There has been a distinct lack of good value second-hand Steely Dan albums available for the last few years. As the Global Vinyl bug took hold, prices for second hand albums went up and up, with some crazy pricing in the last few years. Perhaps the albums were played to death due to this popularity, anyway you couldn't always guarantee how a used copy played.

This new pressing has solved that problem, with lots of Steely albums being released over the last year, with a few more still to come. A new collector can grab one and listen to a great reissue.

There is no denying an early press still can sound splendid but there is a price trade off here.
