Frank Sinatra
In The Wee Small Hours
1955
Capitol Records #ECP-88148. Japanese pressing
1x Vinyl LP, Mono pressing, Reissue 1975. Textured Sleeve, White Label Promo!
In The Wee Small Hours is widely considered to be the first concept album. Its themes touch on the subjects of loneliness and unrequited love. Despite Capitol Records' hesitance at releasing an album with such "dark" themes, it proved to be a commercial success. The album is also viewed as a personal record for Sinatra because of his troubled relationship with his wife at the time, actress Ava Gardner.
The album has been included in many greatest album lists over the years, ranking 282nd in Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time (2020 edition). Many music critics highly regard the album as one of Sinatra's greatest efforts. Musicians have also said the album is a favorite of theirs, such as Tom Waits, Marvin Gaye, and B.B. King.

Wow, what a magical record. This is a lovely Japanese pressing capturing the incredible voice of Frank, and with incredible orchestration courtesy of Nelson Riddle. Quiet, and beguiling, one of the best copies I have ever heard...Pre-digital no doubt
